"Hayg Hovsepian" Campsite

The Hayg Hovsepian Camping site of Homenetmen-HASK was established in 2010 on a forested plot of land in the Erebuni district of Yerevan. The Armenian Government allocated the land to Homenetmen-HASK, while the construction was funded by Hayg Hovsepian’s family and fellow Homenetmen Members. The camp was dedicated to the memory of Hayg Hovsepian.

Until his untimely passing in 2004, Hayg Hovsepian was a dedicated and active member of Homenetmen in the Western United States. He served as a member of the Homenetmen Regional Committee and was responsible for organizing the Navasartian Games. He had a deep love for Homenetmen and a strong belief in the mission of educating and shaping the organization’s younger generations.

The official opening ceremony of the Hayg Hovsepian camping site took place on July 11, 2011, in the presence of representatives from the World Organization of the Scout Movement, the Homenetmen Central (Executive)

Committee, and the Homenetmen-HASK Regional Committee. The first scout camp at the site followed the opening with participants from Homenetmen-HASK and Homenetmen Western United States and the “Ararat” Armenian Cultural Association in Iran.

In 2014, the Armenian Government allocated an additional three hectares of land adjacent to the camping site, allowing for further expansion and renovation.

The official reopening of the expanded and improved camping site took place on September 30, 2015, in the presence of guests, invitees, and Homenetmen representatives.
