"Karnig Megeurditjian" Campsite

On December 5, 2000, the Government of Armenia allocated a 20,000-square-meter area in Puragan to Homenetmen-HASK. The site had previously served as a retreat area with a few cottages and basic communal facilities. With financial support from the Homenetmen Central (Executive) Committee and the dedicated efforts of successive Homenetmen-HASK Committees, it was transformed into a modern campsite with all the necessary amenities.

In 2011, the Armenian Government allocated an additional one-hectare plot of land adjacent to the camping site in Puragan. This expansion was followed by renovation and development efforts, supported financially by the Government of Armenia and the Pyunik Charitable Foundation.

The official inauguration of the renovated Puragan camping site took place on August 22, 2014, in the presence of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the RA Ministry of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, Gabriel Chemberjian, the President of Pyunik Foundation, and representatives of the Homenetmen Central (Executive) Committee, and the Homenetmen-HASK Committee.

The Puragan camping site has hosted the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Pan-Homenetmen General Jamborees (2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018, 2023), along with numerous local and national scouting camps.

On July 19, 2018, in celebration of Homenetmen's 100th anniversary, a memorial sculpture representing the organization's 110 active chapters was erected at the camping site entrance (a work by Ashod and Hayg Margossian).

On October 30, 2021, the camping site was renamed “Karnig Meguerditchian Scout Camp,” in honor of former Homenetmen Central (Executive) Committee Chairman, Yeghpayr Karnig Meguerditchian.

On the same day, the "Immortal Heroes" Memorial (a work by Hayg Margosian) was inaugurated on-site, dedicated to the Homenetmen members who sacrificed their lives in the Artsakh wars.
